Peripheral UPS Equipment Available from Mitsubishi Electric

To complement the superior line of uninterruptible power supplies by Mitsubishi Electric, we build and source peripheral equipment designed to work flawlessly with our UPS. These include:

Benefits of Peripheral UPS Equipment Designed & Built by Mitsubishi Electric

We maintain an excessive inventory of Mitsubishi Electric designed and built UPS and corresponding peripheral devices. The availability of locally-fabricated peripherals reduces lead times and minimizes shipments.

Customers benefit from a single point-of-contact, a readily available inventory of spare parts, and knowledgeable on-site service technicians. Warranties are also conveniently processed in-house as opposed to employing remote, third-party companies.

Mitsubishi Electric designed peripherals offer unique advantages and integrate seamlessly into our UPS products

For example, the multi-purpose cabinet for the 1100 Series is designed to bolt directly onto the corresponding UPS. This minimizes conductor lengths for connections, as well as reduces cost in auxiliary equipment needed, floor space required, and installation costs incurred.

UPS peripherals from Mitsubishi Electric vendor partners

In addition to designing and building our own peripheral UPS equipment, Mitsubishi Electric also enjoys long-standing relationships with many trusted vendors and serves as a proud supplier of their equipment. Firmly vendor agnostic, we are able to purchase in sufficient quantity from various vendors to influence their on-hand inventory to our - and therefore your - advantage. We are also able to arrange drop-shipments from vendors to reduce shipping costs and delivery time. This increased accessibility assists you in getting the peripherals you need in a more efficient manner.

UPS Paralleling Gear

Our paralleling cabinet - known as Critical Load Cabinets (CLCs) - can be configured for redundancy to meet requirements for higher tiered data center designs.

Mitsubishi Electric CLCs can also be adjusted for capacity if the required load exceeds that of a single UPS. Other benefits include:

  • Parallel controls for Mitsubishi Electric UPS contained inside the UPS modules
    • No system-wide controller is required in the paralleling gear
  • Distributed bypass
    • No centralized static switch is required in the CLC, leading to a smaller footprint and simplified design
  • An optional HMI that can be used to have a single point-of-connection for all monitored data

To find the right paralleling peripheral device, consider the:

  • Number of UPS you have/need
  • Size of your UPS
  • Redundancy or capacity design
  • Type of breaker (fixed mount, draw out, electrically-operated) and breaker manufacturer
  • Type of trip unit (L, LS, LSI, LSIG)
  • Load bank connection provisions
  • Advanced power metering
  • UL 891 or UL 1558
  • HMI

UPS Maintenance Bypasses

These peripheral devices allow you to safely isolate the UPS for maintenance without interrupting the critical load.

Depending on the UPS and design of the maintenance bypass, we may be able to top feed a bottom feed UPS. Other benefits include the ability to:

  • Add advanced power metering
  • Ease load testing the UPS with the addition of a load bank connection breaker or load bank connection lugs
  • Design equipment with automatic controls for electrically-operated breakers

To find the right maintenance bypass, consider the:

  • Type of breaker (fixed mount, draw out, electrically-operated) & number of breakers (3-breaker, 4-breaker)
  • Type of trip unit (thermal magnetic, L, LS, LSI, LSIG)
  • Load bank connection provisions
  • Design (floor or wall-mounted)
  • UL 891 or UL 1558
  • Desire for advanced power metering
  • Need for a mechanical or electronic interlock

Multi-Purpose Cabinets

These cabinets combine a maintenance bypass panel with either an input or output transformer to accommodate different voltage requirements.

The addition of the break distribution panel make supplying downstream loads easy without the need for separate panels. Multi-purpose cabinets also:

  • Allow for the addition of breaker distribution panels
  • Save space by combining multiple pieces of equipment into one
  • Safely isolate the UPS for maintenance without interrupting the critical load (when using the 3-breaker maintenance bypass)
  • Grant the ability to top feed a bottom feed UPS (depending on the UPS and design of the multipurpose cabinet)

To find the right multi-purpose cabinet, examine the UPS maintenance bypass considerations, plus:

  • Transformer requirements, such as type (copper/aluminum), voltage, and size
  • Number of distribution panels
  • Distribution panel breaker type, size, and number of poles
